Most people who lose weight gain it right back. This is because they use the wrong methods for weight loss – they usually go on starvation diets. When you starve your body, it sends a message to the brain that there are periods of starvation that will come in the future. That is why dieters almost always eventually binge – when they eventually have access to real food they eat more than they should, the body’s way of ensuring that in case it is starved again in the future it has a source of energy. So how to lose weight once and for all?
If you want to lose weight once and for all you have to understand where it comes from in the first place – it comes from consuming sugar. Sugar is the biggest contributor to fat. The problem is that most of the foods that we consume contain sugar. In fact, studies have shown that 80% of supermarket foods contain sugar. This means that you have to change the source of your meals. Instead of the supermarket, you should be shopping from the farm. In other words, you should be focused on getting lean meats, vegetables and fruits.
You should eat 3 meals a day but they should be constituted of all major food groups – proteins, carbs and vitamins. You should try as much as you can to cook your meals yourself – restaurant meals often have ingredients that are not healthy for you. If you are pressed for time you should prepare meals that you can freeze over the weekend so that all you need to do during the week is reheat.
Your choice of snacks is also important – when most people feel hungry they reach for a snack bar. You should eats fruits and nuts instead – they are much healthier and much more filling.
