How can we lose weight

That is a question that many people are asking themselves around the world. Obesity has become a global problem. In fact, statistics show that more people today die of obesity than starvation. If you want to understand how to lose weight it is important to take a brief historical look.

Back in the ‘40’s and ‘50’s, when hardly any people were overweight there was little talk of exercise. People went about their lives which included healthy diets that didn’t include much sugar. Then came the exercise movement but as it grew so did the consumption of sugar and in turn obesity.

Today, we are still told that exercise is the best way to lose weight and in fact many overweight people have been working out for years without any significant change. So is exercise rally the answer?

The answer is sugar – or rather getting rid of it. What changed in the years since the ‘40’s is how much sugar we consume. 80% of all food items contain sugar. Manufacturers keep adding it to items because they know that it makes them taste better. They add it in the most unsuspecting products. Did you know, for instance, that a quarter of a bottle of ketchup of sugar?

This means that for you, as someone who wants to lose weight, you have to be very careful what you consume. You should focus on eating less from the supermarket and more from the farm. Eat lean meats such as chicken, fish and turkey. Find healthy carbohydrate options for each meal. Get at least 5 servings of fruits and veggies every day. Make sure that you drink at least 2 liters of water everyday.

If you do all these things and add some moderate exercise you will see a significant change in your body weight. Remember, sugar is the enemy so stay away from it and you will never have to ask “how can we lose weight?”.
